Health Tip of the Week: Drinking Enough Water

If you think that you have a bit of a problem drinking enough water on a daily basis, you are probably right. Even worse is the lack of water that is occurring with children.

According to recent statistics that I have found on the internet, more than half of American children are dehydrated, which can have repercussions for their health and academic performance. About one-quarter of children in the US do not drink water on a daily basis. To show you how dehydration severely effects function in the body, research shows dehydrated drivers make twice the amount of errors compared to hydrated drivers β€” an effect similar to driving drunk.

The best thing you can do, obviously is to drink more water. Your best bet is trading sweetened, bottled beverages like soda, iced tea, fruit drinks to PURE WATER which can significantly improve your health. A major rule of thumb is to drink water on a regular basis throughout the day, regardless of thirst. Drink at intervals when you are not thirsty. This ensures that your body has enough water and can support internal functions for optimal health.
